After a few easy victories in the boxing ring, Adonis, son of the great champion Apollo Creed, attempts to carve out a place for himself among the professionals. He leaves Los Angeles and travels to Philadelphia to meet Rocky Balboa, his father's old rival and friend. The veteran becomes the young athlete's mentor, and their collaboration is rewarded with a triumph against local star Pete Sporino. Following this success, Adonis accepts an offer to participate in a world title match.
