The Orient Express leaves Istanbul for Calais, which it will reach after a three-day journey. The train sets off with the famous Belgian detective Hercule Poirot on board, who managed to find a seat at the last minute. In the morning, one of the passengers, a wealthy American, is found dead, his body riddled with stab wounds. The murderer is among the passengers, since the carriage bound for Calais is locked and separated from the rest of the train. Hercule Poirot leads the investigation.
